What if one bold decision could redefine your entire year? As 2025 approaches, many of us are stuck in the cycle of doing what we “SHOULD” instead of pursuing what we truly “WANT.” Ever hear about the Misogi Challenge? — It’s a transformative strategy designed to push your limits, break complacency, and set you on a path to unparalleled growth.
Ready to crush your goals and embrace a new mindset? Let’s dive in.
REAL Talk with Reden:
This week, the wife and I faced some challenges on the road. We had zero driving incidents driving thirty plus hours from Texas to Florida and back during the Thanksgiving break, but in one week… we hit a nail on one car and struck a deer with the other vehicle.
Sometimes we’re all reminded that there’s things in life that we can’t avoid. Sometimes things like these happen.
It may cause us some delay to where we want to go, but eventually we’ll get to our destination.
The road to success is never easy!
Lead with Purpose:
Each week, I’ll provide some practical tips, frameworks, or strategies for intentional leaders at work or at home.
So here goes my first tip/strategy that I’ve incorporated in my weekly routine for over a year…
Pick a day out of the week and block out some time to plan for the following week!
Pretty easy right!? Sounds like it, but why don’t more leaders do this?
I am big on planners and journals. Before I plan for the following week, I like to reflect on the past one and write down at least 3 wins and 3 things I can improve on for the following week.
Write down your top priorities for the week. Reflect back on your yearly, monthly goals. What are you doing this week to hit those targets?
Real Dads Invest:
Sharing with you all some personal stories on family, fatherhood, and personal success in hopes of helping other Leaders achieve theirs.
I’ve a “Misogi Challenge” for the past several years now after learning about it from Jesse Itzler, the Best Selling Author, Serial Entrepreneur, Former Rapper and all around REAL Dad! The term Misogi comes from a Japanese Shinto practice of ritual purification. But in recent years, its been coined as a challenge where a person does something so difficult one time a year, something he/she has never done before to make the year memorable that it impacts the other 364 days of the year.
My 2024 Misogi was run my first marathon. I ended up running two.
What’s your Misogi for 2025?

Challenge of the Week:
“WANT vs SHOULD”
- Pick a day and block off some time this week to plan list out some goals you want to accomplish in 2025! Go to a place where you can be alone in your thoughts to truly write down what you WANT versus what you SHOULD be doing.
