The 3P Framework™: How Intentional Leaders Make Confident Decisions

Are your decisions aligned with your purpose, or are they based on pressure?

We’ve all been there—sitting at a crossroads. We try to make a decision that impacts not just our career. It affects our family, our peace of mind, and our purpose.

Whether you are a parentpreneur, executive leader, or someone building something bigger than themselves, your decisions carry weight. And it’s easy to fall into the trap of reacting to pressure instead of responding with purpose.

That’s why I created the 3P Framework™—Pause, Prioritize, Proceed—to help high-performers like you make confident decisions without regret.

Today, we’re breaking down how to apply it to both life and leadership.

You don’t need more pressure. You need more purpose.

Problem

“How can I confidently make decisions that align with my values and goals?”

We all want to make the “right” decision—but that pressure can feel paralyzing.

Work deadlines, parenting challenges, and leadership responsibilities can be overwhelming. It’s hard to know what to say yes to. You often feel guilty about what you’re saying no to.

The truth? Good decisions are made when you slow down enough to connect your actions to your values and long-term vision.

But in a world that idolizes speed and urgency, that’s easier said than done.

The 3P Framework™

Here’s how I’ve learned to make better decisions—both in uniform and out of it:

1. Pause. Create space before reacting. Whether it’s a text, an opportunity, or a confrontation—slow down. Breathe. Step back from the urgency so you can see the decision clearly.

2. Prioritize. What matters most right now? Run the decision through your Decision Filter Framework™ (Urgent vs Important). Ask:

  • Will this move me closer to my vision?
  • Does this align with my values and current season?
  • What’s the cost of this choice—relationally, financially, emotionally?

3. Proceed. Now act. Move forward with confidence, not perfection. Give yourself permission to lead with clarity, even if it’s uncomfortable.

Personal Story

I remember a time when I was offered a real estate investment deal that looked incredible on paper. I was a full-time Navy Chief, a Coach, and a Dad to two beautiful daughters with special needs. I had to ask myself: Is this the right decision for me right now?

I paused and prayed. I looked at my family’s rhythms, my current workload, and what God was calling me to focus on.

Sure enough—it wasn’t the right time.

Saying no felt hard, but it also felt right. That decision gave me more time to coach leaders. I could be present at home. It also allowed me to grow my business in a way that was sustainable.

That one “no” opened the door for several “yeses” later that aligned with my purpose and priorities.

“What happens when making the right decision feels like it conflicts with other priorities?”

That tension is real. Sometimes, saying yes to what matters most means disappointing others—or even parts of yourself.

But here’s what I’ve learned:

You don’t lead effectively by pleasing everyone. You lead effectively by making intentional, principle-based decisions that serve your mission over the long haul.

You don’t lead effectively by pleasing everyone.
